Upcycled Desktop Organiser

In Year 6 children are learning about the importance of recycling and upcycling. They have used junk to make a desktop organiser that they can use when they go to boarding school. We are not limiting our recycling efforts to our garden but extending it to other areas of the curricullum as well. This is part of our DT work.

The Recycled Garden

The plants seems to be liking our recycled containers. A few weeks and they are growing quite well.

Recycled Garden Project

We are developing one of our ataps into a Recycled Garden. We have been reusing junk to make planting containers. The Eco Warriors have worked very hard to set up and maintain this garden.

Wildlife in the garden

Gardening is not just about growing plants.

Watching birds build nests, lay eggs, hatch youngs, feed them, watching babies grow; all add excitement  to the gardening experience of children.

Gardening Club

Learning how to propagate a mature plant.

Children loved playing with soil and getting their hands dirty. The real
motivator was the fact that they could take home a pot that they had planted.

Feeling happy with their prized pots.

Waste Week

We launched our Waste Week Campaign during assembly on April 20th 2015. We talked about the problems of waste asked the whole school to join in with our campaign to minimise waste. We also challenged everyone to make something creative out of waste and bring it to school for a competition.
